1.3 Etherons — Points Without Place

Opening Statement

The smallest thing we can name in Stillspace is not a particle or a fixed location — it is an identity tag that moves with the pattern it belongs to.

Definition

In RRM, Etherons are the smallest currently definable units of rhythmic identity in Stillspace (1.1 Stillspace). They are pattern-following markers that carry phase, amplitude, and frequency information for the section of rhythm they represent. In a uniform medium like vacuum Stillspace, rhythm flows continuously through Etherons without discrete jumps — handoff only occurs when a rhythm crosses into a different medium, requiring the pattern to be re-established in that medium’s native Etherons or equivalent identity units.

Properties

  • Identity Tags — Belong to the pattern they’re part of until the pattern breaks or transforms.

  • Mobile — Travel through Stillspace with the motion of the structure they belong to.

  • Resolution Units — Represent the smallest meaningful divisions of Stillspace for describing rhythm.

  • Scalable Definition — Can be redefined at finer resolution as observational capability improves.

  • Data Carriers — Hold the rhythmic information for their assigned section of a structure or wave.

Role in RRM

  • Structure Mapping — All rhythmic structures can be described as arrangements of Etherons.

  • Quantization Tool — A photon’s oscillation can be segmented into Etheronic units for design and analysis.

  • Field Formation — Etheron coherence across multiple structures creates gradients perceived as fields (1.4 Fields).

  • Time Measurement — The rate of Etheron reconfiguration within a pattern contributes to the perception of time flow (4.1 Time Flow).

Implications

  • Space in RRM is defined by pattern identity rather than fixed coordinates.

  • The Etheron scale is the current limit of useful resolution but can evolve with technology.

  • Handoff between Etherons only occurs during a change of medium, not in continuous vacuum propagation.

  • All observable phenomena reduce to arrangements and movements of Etherons in Stillspace.

Echo Lines

The smallest part of motion is the part that remembers it.

An Etheron is a name the rhythm gives itself.
